Anne and Simon celebrated their wedding at the Watergate Bay Hotel; the weather surprised everyone - heavy, I mean torrential, rain as I was photographing the bride in a room at the hotel. Much to everyones' amazement after the ceremony out came the sun so we were able to get photographs outside with the gorgeous sea views and even on to the beach.
This was my first wedding at the hotel for some time and I was surprised by the radical facelift the place has been given; a very chilled, relaxed feel to the place with walls adorned with surf boards. This wedding venue has a contemporary feel to it and caters for weddings large and small.
Anne and Simon's wedding was attended by about fifty guests who had travelled down to Cornwall especially for the wedding. I think some of them were taking an extended break; often the case and great for the area, especially when everyone was drenched in sunshine instead of expected rain - much to my relief. I feel sorry for couples if the weather is not good, it takes so much effort for everyone to make the journey down to Cornwall such a popular destination wedding location.
Bride and groom were very emotional during their ceremony, were obviously thrilled to be getting married and clearly very much in love. The wedding was very relaxed and a joy to photograph; there were some requests for group photographs and the photography coverage ended at the start of the wedding breakfast.
I am so pleased that we managed to get on to the beach, the reason why people come to Cornwall to get married and it didn't disappoint.
Started with some shots of the bride before the ceremony
A very emotional ceremony for bride and groom as a tear rolls down Anne's cheek. Wedding ceremonies are often highly emotional for couples getting married aswell as family and friends
Smiles allround as the best man presents the brides wedding ring ready for the groom to slip on his nearly wife's finger
A time for hugs and words of congratulations after the ceremony; here's Anne being congratulated by her mother
I was so pleasantly surpised when the sun came out. Watergate Bay has great views as you can see from these shots. The decking area is the ideal place for a few group photographs and photos of the bride and groom
There's plenty of space and seating for the wedding guests to enjoy the views and catch some sun
After a few group photographs we went onto the beach, the light was beautiful
The wedding flowers were simple and exactly what Anne wanted; she gave the florist a brief of what she wanted and was very happy with her bouquet. The sky was beefed up a little to create the dramatic effect I wanted for this photograph
The surfboards around the Watergate Bay Hotel are in keeping wiith the contemporary, sea theme which makes this a popular venue for weddings aswell as people on holiday. This wedding was in March and the hotel was very busy. Reception was bustling with people checking in
Thought I'd include this one to show how contemorary the decor of the hotel bar is
Bride and groom looking relaxed and looking forward to their wedding breakfast that was held in the dining room
We packed in a lot in a short time; I enjoyed photographing Anne and Simon's wedding at this contemporary wedding venue in Cornwall, the Watergate Bay Hotel and wish the newly weds a long and happy life together as man and wife.
