There’re many different options for wedding transport which provide lots of opportunities for me as a wedding photographer to take natural photographs.
When the bride arrives, in her chosen mode of transport, it’s a great time for wedding photographers to take photos that will be very natural. For many of the weddings I photograph being civil ceremonies where the bride often gets ready at the wedding venue wedding transport is not needed. However if the bride is getting ready at a different location to where she is going to get married wedding transport is needed.
At Anna Sawle’s wedding, Anna owns Wedding Flowers in Cornwall, her groom Ollie arrived with his best man on a vintage tractor which was the first tractor he’d bought. I got some great shots of them arriving at the church; very natural expressions and photographs which of course featured this wedding transport. Brides or grooms will sometimes arrive in transport like Ollie did that has a special meaning for them and is a way couples can personalise their wedding. Anna arrived at the church with her father and she also chose a vintage tractor for her wedding transport to the church and the newly weds transport to their wedding reception was a white Beaufort.
Anna and Ollie had great fun at their wedding which was highly personalised with Anna’s flowers and their chosen wedding transport that meant so much to them both. Their faces showed how happy they were; for the whole of their wedding day.
Horse Drawn Carriages
Horse drawn carriages are a great way for the bride to get to her wedding; I was fortunate enough to travel from Tregenna Castle into St Ives with a bride and her father which was a great experience for me and also a first. Of course I had the camera with me and caught some terrific shots of the two of them as we traveled to the church.
VW Campervans & Luxury Vehicles
Many couples like VW camper vans of which there are two companies in south west Cornwall VW Wedding Hire and Strawberry Leisure have often been the suppliers of such camper vans. Brides often arrive in vintage cars or Rolls Royces, Bentleys and other luxury vehicles offered by various wedding car and transport providers in Cornwall. You can see here to check out our limo service provider for the wedding.
I was lucky enough to photograph Rachel and Nik’s fabulous wedding which had probably the largest range of wedding transport I’ve ever seen for one wedding.
I smiled to myself as I walked from where I’d been photographing the bride and bidesmaids getting ready to get photographs of the groom getting ready, to the church to photograph the arrival of the groom and his best man, then back to get shots of the bridemaids leaving for the wedding ceremony and the bride and her father leaving for the church before walking back to the church to get shots of the bride and her father’s arrival. To think wedding photographers make a big deal of having two photographers so the coverage of the bride and groom before the ceremony can be done; just goes to show with experience and a bit of planning what a wedding photographer working on their own can achieve.
The wedding transport provided many photo opportunities to help capture the spirit of their wedding day and several of the photographs were chosen by the newly weds for their wedding album layout. Tregenna Castle provided a great backdrop for the shots of the bridal party with the VW Camper van supplied by Strawberry Leisure and the Rolls Royce supplied by Arrival Wedding Cars, Cornwall.
