Tregenna Castle was the setting for Lindsey and Owen's wedding in Cornwall. Owen is from Wales and a Welsh male voice choir sang beautifully inside the hotel prior to their ceremony and after. I smiled at the somewhat surprised reactions to hotel guests seeing and hearing such a large choir. This is the first time I've known this to happen - yes the choir had travelled down to St. Ives from Wales.
Had some fun doing shots of the groom, his best man and grooms' men before the ceremony inside Tregenna and outside. The weather was fairly overcast but dry and cold.
Their wedding ceremony took place in the Godrevy room after which there was a toast to absent friends and family made by the groom, who has served in Afghanistan, prior to braving the chilly weather outside for a few photographs.
Lindsey braved the elements for a trip down to Porthminster beach for a brief beach wedding photo shoot with the backdrop of lots of white water as the waves broke. How different the scene can look; very flat lighting with an overcast sky are not the best conditions for wedding photography on a beach but at least it was dry which was fortunate.
I managed to get a parking space in the Sloop car park which I think has to be a first for me during a wedding. The cobbled streets of St. Ives made great backdrops for some shots prior to a visit to the Sloop Inn where the bride and groom met up with some of the guests and bridesmaids who had come down into St. Ives.
Then it was back up to Tregenna Castle for a few more photographs before everyone took their seats in the Godrevy room for the wedding breakfast which is where the photography coverage ended.
Kilts were the order of the day for the groom and the grooms men. Tregenna Castle always makes a great backdrop for photographs taken before the wedding ceremony. The large coach in the background brought the choir to Cornwall
Bride and father on their way to Lindsey's wedding ceremony with the choir filling the entrance to Tregenna with fabulous music.
Lindsey and Owen wanted to keep the photography very relaxed; I so enjoy capturing expressions and it's great to have natural smiles that show the happiness of their wedding ceremony
After the ceremony the choir sang whilst the guests enjoyed some bubbles and congratulated the newly weds.
Documenting weddings is my preferred way of working. Here both bride and groom relax after their ceremony with the frontage of Tregenna making a great background for this photograph.
Oh yes, it was pretty windy but the girls brave the elements and look relaxed and happy
Plenty of waves and white water on Porthminster beach for shots of the bride and groom. For most couples photographs on a beach are a pre-requisite especially when you've travelled from out of the county.
Letting the couple enjoy this special time yields great expressions that reflect the happiness of such a special occasion. This couple will remember moments like this for the years to come as they enjoy some quality time together with yours truly on hand to document their wedding pictorially.
On the St. Ives harbour front
The bride, groom, bridesmaids and several of their guests took over the bar at the Sloop where Lyndsey and Owen have shared great times together during their many visits to glorious St. Ives.
Many congratulations Lindsey and Owen; I thoroughly enjoyed photographing your wedding, meeting you both and your guests. Good luck for your future life together.
